The IDB Group, through its BIDAcademy initiative, fosters capacity building and training across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to promote sustainable development in the region. We offer high quality massive open online courses (MOOCs), that integrates real-world research findings and results of more than 60 years of experience on the ground in the Bank's member countries. The overarching objective of these courses is to continuously promote open access to peer -recognized training and professional development that not only meets the academic rigor of ‘traditional’ higher education offerings, but , that also uniquely ties in the diverse intellectual capital from the IDB Group’s projects and case studies, as well as from their strategic partners across the globe.

 

According to data that was collected from some of our learners: - 55% of women assert that the IDB group’s courses have helped them to improve their professional situations, 53% of e MOOC participants who were self-employed shared how courses provided them with valuable insight and information about starting tone’s own business; and90% of l students rejoice in the fact that the IDB’s courses not only leads them to discover innovative tools, techniques, and technologies across various career fields, but it also bolstered their confidence in applying them to their work environments.

Learning, capacity building, and access to relevant, open and up-to-date knowledge is critical for an efficient response to the many challenges faced by the region. Moreover, the IDB’s open courses directly contributes to and supports the continued socio-economic growth of Latin America and the Caribbean.
