Concentrations

The 36-credit Master of Health Administration (MHA) curriculum reflects the changing landscape of healthcare and enables you to immediately apply what you’re learning to real-world healthcare challenges. The MHA comprises 10 core courses (27 credits) and your choice of three electives (9 credits). You can select a concentration or pursue a generalist track to choose your own mix of electives based on your professional interests and career goals.

The four concentrations are:

  • Health Informatics and Analytics:

    Leverage the power of data analytics to help healthcare organizations optimize their administrative, clinical, and financial strategies.

  • Healthcare Leadership:

    Learn about marketing, policy, economics, and management as they pertain to a healthcare system.

  • Population Health Management:

    Develop the leadership and managerial skills you need to help health organizations improve community health and curb epidemics.

  • Senior Services:

    Gain a multidisciplinary perspective on gerontology as you learn to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of senior healthcare and living services.

Admissions

Maryville University offers a straightforward and hassle-free application process, with guidance from a dedicated admissions advisor. No application fees or entrance exams are required, and you can choose from three start dates (in the fall, spring, or summer). Maryville University is transfer-credit friendly and will even request transcripts on your behalf. Applicants who don’t meet the GPA requirements may be considered for provisional admission for certain programs.

To be eligible for admission into the MHA program, you will need:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with a minimum 3.0 GPA 

  • Official academic transcripts from all previous colleges or universities

  • A résumé (optional)

  • A personal statement explaining qualifications for graduate work

  • An understanding of basic statistics (if you have not completed a statistics course previously, you may take this self-paced, shortened course alongside your first MHA-specific courses) 

  • English proficiency scores (international applicants may be required to submit scores that meet a certain threshold)
