Woven throughout the curriculum are two distinct placement experiences. During placements, learners will participate in live simulations, engage with expert demonstrations, practice skills independently, and build foundational knowledge.
These field placements are designed to help learners put their newly acquired skills into practice.
Online learners can expect to experience similar placements as on-campus learners. Previously, placements for the on-campus MSW program have been internships with organizations or programs such as departments of health, state and federal representative offices, homeless and housing coalitions, integrated health clinics, healthcare-setting administration, medical social work, VA medical centers, outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, family and child therapy programs, and inpatient psychiatric units.
Learners participating in the advanced standing track will take part in two terms of concentrated fieldwork, completing 500 hours at a placement site where you will be able to put what you learned into practice in real time.
