Tuition and fees are subject to change and may increase each academic year. Tuition does not include student fees, technology platform licensing, or support services. Admissions

Maryville’s hassle-free application process is designed to remove roadblocks, so you can focus on what’s important: your growth and your goals. No application fees or GMAT/GRE scores are required. The program offers three start dates per year, so you can align your educational journey with your schedule. Maryville considers all transfer credits, even if you earned them years ago.

Eligible applicants to the Master of Science in Data Science online program need a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for provisional admission.

The following materials are required to apply for admission:

  • A simplified, no-cost online application

  • Official academic transcripts (Maryville will request transcripts for you). This includes undergraduate (and, if applicable, graduate) transcripts showing courses taken, and grades received from any previously attended college or university. 

  • Résumé

  • 300–500-word essay describing your interest in the program; your qualifications for the program; and how a MS in data science complements your career and educational goals

  • English proficiency scores (International applicants may be required to submit scores that meet a certain threshold.)

Maryville University holds regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Maryville has maintained accreditation from the HLC since 1941, and this status was most recently reaffirmed in 2015.

Many students complete the program in two years or fewer. 

Current Maryville undergraduate students can get a head start on the Master of Science in Data Science degree through the Early Access program. This program allows students to earn up to 12 credits toward a master’s degree while completing the requirements for the bachelor’s degree. Students save time and money because they can start their graduate studies with as much as one-third of the course requirements already completed.

Students with a Maryville online certificate in big data or machine learning can use these credits for the master’s degree program in data science. All 15 credit hours from the certificate can be applied toward the Master of Science in Data Science degree.
