Curriculum

The online Bachelor of Arts in Communication program features two concentrations, empowering you to tailor your degree experience to your professional interests and career goals.

The Strategic Communication track features project-based learning on communication theory, ethical communication, and communication technology, with an emphasis on modern communication strategies and platforms. The Emerging Media Strategy and Social Media track provides an in-depth analysis of digital writing and communications, including in-demand skills like social media campaign management and web design, including the full-circle web development process.

Admissions

Maryville’s hassle-free online application process is designed to remove application roadblocks so you can start learning sooner than you think. No application fees or SAT/ACT scores are required. The program offers three start dates per year, so you can align your educational journey with your schedule. Maryville considers all transfer credits, even if you earned them years ago.

Eligible applicants to the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program must have earned a high school diploma or GED with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. (Applicants with a GPA below 2.5 may be considered for provisional admission.)

You will need to submit the following materials to apply:

  • A simplified, no-cost online application

  • Official high school transcript (Maryville will request transcripts for you.)

  • English proficiency scores (International applicants may be required to submit scores that meet a certain threshold.)
