36-credit curriculum overview

The online M.S. in Business Analytics curriculum equips learners with a strong understanding of the applications of analytics. It also offers learners the opportunity to take courses from the Whitman School of Management, the School of Information Studies, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. During the program, learners complete six credits of core courses, six credits of core application courses, six credits of analytics depth core courses, and 18 credits of electives across the three schools listed above. The result: A more holistic skill set that allows graduates of the program to work in a variety of areas, such as accounting and financial analytics, data analysis, data science, principles of management science, and information visualization. As an online M.S. in Business Analytics learner, you will take several core courses that cover foundational topics. Here are two of them:

  • Data Analysis and Decision Making: Learn to utilize various statistical techniques, perform statistical analysis, and interpret results in a meaningful way.
  • Business Analytics: Gain hands-on experience with a number of analytical tools, including advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Google Analytics, R Programming, and Tableau data visualization.

Admissions requirements

Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management seeks applicants whose academic abilities can successfully meet the demands of this selective, rigorous graduate program. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university and have at least one year of work experience. GMAT waivers are available. The program accepts applications year round, and offers multiple start dates a year, typically in January, April, July, and October.
