Program tracks

This program is one of the first in the United States to feature a completely revamped curriculum that focuses on the upcoming changes to the CPA Exam and the field of accounting. Specialize your education by choosing one of two CPA Exam-focused tracks: Business Analysis and Reporting, or Information Systems and Controls. 

  • In the Business Analysis and Reporting track, you’ll learn about:

  • Accounting in corporate governance:

    Examine the role that the accounting function plays in achieving the strategic goals of an organization.

  • Tax planning and decision-making:

    Explore the fundamental concepts of common tax regulations, and learn about corporate and partnership taxation and individual tax planning issues.

  • Advanced data analytics:

    Look at data analytics through an accounting lens. Topics include creating databases, cleaning and transforming data, and delivering usable information to clients.

  • In the Information Systems and Controls track, you’ll learn about:

  • Effective cyber defense:

    Study the Controls for Effective Cyber Defense, which are a recommended set of actions that will provide specific and actionable ways to deter potential attacks.

  • Cybersecurity incident response:

    Learn proper cyber defense, evaluation, and response methods that are inherent in today’s changing technology landscape.

  • Advanced data analytics:

    Look at data analytics through an accounting lens. Topics include creating databases, cleaning and transforming data, and delivering usable information to clients.

Admissions

No previous business experience or GMAT/GRE scores are required to be considered for the online accounting degree, but you must have a four-year bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Applicants without an accounting background may be eligible for the bridge program, which includes 39–45 hours of additional credits in foundational coursework in accounting, finance, economics, business law, and statistics.
