Anatomy is commonly referred to as a subject that requires memorization and is known to be challenging, especially for medical and dental students, with a high volume of material. For the general public, it is often perceived as a subject with a high barrier to entry. However, the interest in our own bodies is not limited to medical or dental professionals; it can be seen as a fundamental interest of humanity itself. Furthermore, the practical applications of this knowledge in our daily lives are limitless.
This course is structured to make learning human anatomy as easy as possible for those who are either new to it or have a just small interest in the subject. It is designed to be easily understandable and engaging, even for individuals who are not medical, dental, or other biology-related majors.
We have made an effort to approach anatomy from various cultural, historical, and societal perspectives. In a total of 8 episodes, we introduce anatomical concepts, definitions, and directions, starting from planes and covering bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, and the brain in the head and neck region.
We also focus on the special sensory organs located in the face, including the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth, which start with the lips.
This course is quite unique in that it aims to lower the accessibility barrier to the study of anatomy for the general public by incorporating quotes from well-known individuals, historical figures, and anatomical techniques found in famous artworks.
Given the vast depth and breadth of the field of anatomy, this season of the course will primarily focus on the anatomy of the head and neck, with plans to cover other parts of the body in future series. If you have an interest in your body, I highly recommend taking this course and enjoying it.
In this course, we will learn the most fundamental knowledge of anatomy. As described in the course introduction, since this is an anatomy course designed for individuals who are not medical or dental professionals, the primary goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge required for starting anatomy to those with no prior background, as well as to spark interest. However, it can also serve the purpose of imparting anatomical concepts to those who plan to study or are already studying the human body in fields such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary medicine, life sciences, arts, and physical education.
Due to the vast scope of the field of anatomy, we will focus on the head and neck, which is considered the most important and complex part, throughout the 8 episodes. Specifically, this course will begin with the definition of anatomy, anatomical directions, planes, and terminology. It will then delve into the bones that make up the head and neck, followed by an exploration of the various muscles found in the head and neck, including those responsible for facial expressions and mastication. You will also gain insight into the various facial expressions that the human face can create. Additionally, we will cover the important structures related to everyday life including the oral structures and sensory organs located in head and neck. Also, we will discuss the blood vessels and nerves in the head and neck. The course will touch upon the crucial structure of the brain, as well as the digestive and respiratory systems passing through the neck.
Throughout this anatomical content, famous quotes, well-known individuals, and their works will be integrated, providing a humanistic, social, and artistic perspective.
Lastly but not leastly, in each episode, there will be a review section where you can draw figures directly to ensure a thorough understanding of the foundational content.
