Curriculum

This 18-credit cybersecurity certificate program is focused on some of the key areas in cybersecurity that are highly sought after by employers. You will build your foundation in cybersecurity and tailor your experience to your skills. Throughout the program you’ll:

  • Use malware analysis tools: Knowing the capabilities of malware is critical to an organization’s ability to derive threat intelligence, respond to information security incidents, and establish defenses.
  • Explore cybersecurity policies: Understand information security and policies in the private sector related to privacy, incident response, computer crime, intellectual property, and more.
  • Apply ethical hacking methodologies: Learn to assess target networks and hosts for security vulnerabilities as well as explore ethical hacking methodologies and apply them on network devices, client machines, and mobile devices.
  • Examine evidence: Apply digital forensic practices, tools, and exercises for the collection of electronic evidence on network, client, and mobile devices.

Admissions

Maryville’s hassle-free online application process empowers you to accelerate next steps in your career or educational journey. No application fees or SAT/ACT scores are required. The program offers three start dates per year for greater flexibility, so you can align your educational journey with your schedule. Maryville considers all transfer credits, even if you earned them years ago.

You’ll need to submit the following materials as part of your application:

  • A simplified, no-cost online application

  • Official transcripts

  • English proficiency scores may be required

To be eligible for admission, you will need to have earned a high school diploma or GED with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. If you previously earned college credits, you should have a minimum college GPA of 2.0. (If your GPA does not meet these requirements, you may be considered for provisional admission.)
