Why does edX collect demographic information?

The voluntary information that you provide will help us improve our programs, inform marketing and measure the impact of our work on society at-large.

Your information will be stored confidentially by edX and will only be shared anonymously in aggregate to help describe the scope and impact of our programs in reports to organizations and business partners that provide support to our programs, and in marketing.

edX relies on generous funding from foundations to help create and offer educational programs. Our funders support our mission and want to know more about the learners we serve.

To that end, the following data fields are shared with our current and future funders only in an aggregated, non-identifiable manner for purposes of program development.

• Income
• Open text (i.e. "other") responses
