The boot camp introduces the technical foundations of AI, and builds on that foundation with specialized AI skills for those looking to upskill and set themselves and their résumés apart. No previous programming skills are required to apply. However, it is recommended that applicants hold a bachelor’s degree and/or two years of work experience in business, finance, statistics, management, or a related field.

A curriculum that’s current: Learn where AI is now
Our rigorous AI boot camp curriculum reflects the latest in an ever-changing field. You will learn everything from what AI is to machine learning optimization and emerging topics, such as generative AI and the future of AI. Classes are delivered through high-quality coursework and live, virtual classes led by instructors who are vetted by the University. You can ask questions in real time, engage in discussion with fellow classmates, and feel supported as you learn something entirely new.
All instructors are assessed for not only their professional experience in the field, but also their ability to successfully communicate complex AI concepts in a virtual environment. Instructors hold office hours before and after class where you can check in, ask questions, and problem solve on assignments.

To enroll in a boot camp, select your program of interest and complete the form. You will be contacted by an admissions adviser, who can answer any questions and help you with the process.
edX boot camps are designed for working adults, learners, and busy professionals, giving you the advantage of a flexible learning schedule. Students enrolled in our part-time programs should expect to attend live, instructor-led classes each week, and set aside an additional 20+ hours outside of class for self-study and projects.
All boot camps are offered fully online and include live, virtual classroom sessions led by university-vetted instructors with ample professional experience in their respective fields.
Throughout your boot camp and your career, you will have access to edX career services offering résumé review and interview prep, and you can tap into our global edX alumni community for even more networking opportunities. You will also gain access to a network of more than 250 employers — including half of the Fortune 100 — seeking students who have completed the program.
Upon successful completion of the boot camp, you will earn a certificate of completion from Northwestern University School of Professional Studies.
The Northwestern AI Boot Camp is for anyone who is interested in advancing or getting started in a high-demand tech field. You do not need prior experience to apply to and succeed in a boot camp — you will receive academic and career support every step of the way.
While it’s not required, it is recommended that applicants hold a bachelor’s degree and/or two years of work experience in business, finance, statistics, management, or a related field for the AI boot camp. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a GED or higher. Speak to an admissions advisor to see if you meet enrollment requirements.
