Senior Researcher, Lecturer on Comparative and European Politics at KU Leuven
Wouter Wolfs is Lecturer and Senior Researcher at the Public Governance Institute of the KU Leuven. He has been a visiting professor and guest lecturer at the University of Antwerp, the University of Hasselt, the University of Trier and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. In 2021-2022, he was a Fellow of the Re:Constitution Programme on Exchange and Analysis on Democracy and the Rule of Law in Europe. Wouter Wolfs was also a Visiting Research Fellow at Maastricht University, the Party Research Institute (PRuF) of the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in Stockholm.
His research focuses on the history of European integration, European democracy, interinstitutional relations in the EU, parliamentary capacity-building, political finance, and the organisation of European political parties. He has published widely on these topics, including in volumes of Cambridge University Press, Bristol University Press, Sage, Routledge, Edward Elgar, Rowman & Littlefield and Springer, and in journals such as the Journal of Legislative Studies , Politics and Governance , International Review of Administrative Sciences , Politics of the Low Countries, and the Journal of Common Market Studies. In 2022, his book European Political Parties and Party Finance Reform: Funding Democracy? was published with Palgrave Macmillan.
