Susan Gurney

PhD at University of Cambridge

About me

Susan Gurney studied cell biology and pathology at the University of St Andrews, and went on to study at Cambridge University, gaining an MSc in stem cell biology. While in Cambridge she became interested in genetics and went on to complete an MSc in Forensic Science at Anglia Ruskin University. She expanded this research for her PhD, which examined the evolution of quids via the analysis of mitochondrial DNA. Susan Gurney is currently living in Philadelphia in the USA, where she teaches biology at the undergraduate and graduate level. Her current research involves working with undergraduate students to isolate bacteriophage viruses and then to analyse their DNA genomes.
