About me

Marc is Professor in Behavioural Ecology at Wageningen University and Research (WUR). His research covers a range of different topics on the behavioural mechanisms, their development and function. His main research interest is in animal vocal communication as well as in social and spatial organization, with a focus on songbirds as model systems.

Marc has been Chair of the Behavioural Ecology Group in WUR since 2011. He was previously senior researcher at the Department of Animal Ecology at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), and before that worked at the University of Bielefeld and Freie Universität Berlin. Marc received his PhD at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hil, USA. Marc currently is president of the Netherlands Society for Behavioural Biology.
