Professor of Theology at Georgetown University
Paul L. Heck, PhD, is Professor of Theology in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University. He received his doctorate in Islamic Studies from the University of Chicago and is a past member of Princeton University’s Society of Fellows (2001-2004). He has published extensively on the history of religious thought, especially its humanistic side, spirituality and ethics, political theology, skepticism, and emotions across religious traditions, particularly Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He is the founding director of the Study of Religions across Civilizations (SORAC), which connects students and scholars across cultures for theological exchange. His blog, A Nation in Need of Theology (paulheck.org), is the place to go for reflections on the role of religiosity in national conversations on today’s critical issues.
