Professor of Strategic Public Management at Harvard Kennedy School of Government
Mark Moore has been a Professor at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government for more than 40 years. Over his career, he has also held professorial appointments at the Harvard Business School, and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
An expert in the emerging field of strategic public management, his work has focused on “creating public value” in such domains as policing, crime prevention, public health, child protection, education, and the arts. He has advised individuals holding institutional positions in government, in non-profit organizations, in philanthropies, as well as entrepreneurial social innovators and change makers who created “public value initiatives” from scratch.
Over the years, Moore has served as the Chief Planning Officer for the Drug Enforcement Agency, launched new education programs at Harvard, and produced publications in the fields of public management, public leadership, and social innovation.
Moore has a B.A. from Yale University (Summa cum Laude), and an M.P.P. and Ph.D. from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
