Luna Lu

ACPA Professor of Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University

About me

Professor Lu is ACPA Professor of Lyles School of Civil Engineering with courtesy appointment in the school of Materials Engineering. She is also the founding director of the Center for Intelligent Infrastructure (CII) at Purdue University.

She leads an interdisciplinary research group that works on novel nanomaterials and devices for energy harvesting and sensing applications. Professor Lu has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications; 2 books, 6 book chapters, 1 patent and 7 provisional patents. Her research work has been featured in many national and regional media. She has won several scientific awards, including the 2014 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award.

She has also transferred few technologies from her research lab into engineering applications and formed companies based on her innovations. When she is not working, Professor Lu likes to play LEGO with her daughter. She also enjoys reading biographies of tech leaders, playing piano and hiking in the woods.
