Senior Museum Educator and Manager of Tours and Docent Programs at The National Gallery of Art, Washington

About me

Liz Diament is a Senior Museum Educator at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, where she has worked for over twenty years. She manages and designs tours for school groups and the general public, while overseeing 130 docent volunteers who facilitate visitor-centered tours and experiences for children and adults. Liz is also passionate about her professional development work with teachers, helping them integrate art and critical thinking into curriculum. She co-plans and facilitates the National Gallery's Summer Institute for Educators, as well as online and in-person programs. She has been inspired by Project Zero's research for many years and has taught in museums and courses across the U.S. using its approach. She received a degree in Art History from Manchester University, England, and a Master’s in Museum Education from Bank Street College of Education, New York. Liz is passionate about using works of art to create memorable and meaningful experiences for all learners.
