About me

Dr. Leanne Küpers finished the BSc program nutrition and dietetics (HAN university of applied sciences, Nijmegen, the Netherlands) in 2009 and the MSc program nutrition and health (specialisation epidemiology and public health, Wageningen University, the Netherlands) in 2011.

From 2011 until 2016 she worked on her PhD thesis entitled "The first 1000 days and beyond - from early life environment to epigenetics and childhood overweight". She did this at the University of Groningen and the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands under supervision of prof. dr. Harold Snieder, prof. dr. Ronald Stolk and dr. Eva Corpeleijn. She obtained her (cum laude) PhD degree early 2016.

Between 2016 and 2018 Leanne continued her work in the field of developmental origins of cardiometabolic diseases and the role of epigenetics as a senior research associate at the Medical Research Council Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. At Wageningen University, Leanne now works on the integration of molecular epidemiology with nutritional epidemiology, with a special interest in kidney function decline in post-myocardial infarction patients, as well as developmental origins of cardiometabolic health, mother-child interactions.
