About me

Dr John Yuen is a biomedical scientist with training in pathology in Hong Kong and the US and holds relevant professional qualifications. Aside from this, he is a Chartered Scientist and Fellows of the Royal Society of Biology and the Royal Society for Public Health in the United Kingdom. In teaching, He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy which recognizes his attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support. As university faculty, he teaches human anatomy and life science subjects to healthcare programs. He is one of the pioneers in HKPolyU who adopted the flipped classroom and collaborative learning pedagogies and is interested in inventing innovative eLearning technologies through understanding the learning analytics. To facilitate student learning and research, he has led a team and developed a stereoscopic 3-Dimension anatomical visualizer in HKPolyU. In research, John is an expert in bladder cancer and immunotherapy who also has looked into research assessing the health status of different diseased and high-risk populations, especially in areas of urology and men’s health. For stroke research, he fills the service and research gaps to support the recovery and rehabilitation of survivors, by applying his expertise in technology-based education and biomarkers. In university administration, he chairs various committees at university-level, in particular he is a Massive Opened Online Courses (MOOCs) Lead of HKPolyU for advising policy making.
