About me

Jhan-Carlo Espinoza is a Peruvian researcher with a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the Pierre et Marie Curie University of Paris, France. He is a tenured Research Director at the French Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and serves as a Professor of Climatology in the Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). In 2015, Jhan-Carlo was nominated by the Peruvian State for the Science Prize for Innovation, Research, and Education, in the theme of Disaster Risk Reduction. He was one of teh authors of IPCC-SRCCL (2019) and since 2019 has been a memebr of the Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA). Currently, he is a Co-Chair of the Regional Hydroclimatic Program for the Andes, ANDEX, supported by GEWEX/WCRP. Since 2024, he has also been a member of the CLIVAR/GEWEX Monsoons Panel.
