About me

Dr Calvin Chin is a Senior Consultant and Clinician Scientist at the National Heart Centre Singapore, and an Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He is the Director of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance at the National Heart Center Singapore. Dr Chin graduated from Loma Linda University, California in 2003 and completed his cardiology training at the National Heart Centre Singapore in 2012. With the support from the National Medical Research Council (NMRC), Calvin completed the Master of Clinical Investigation at the National University of Singapore and a PhD program at the University of Edinburgh in 2010 and 2015, respectively. He was awarded the Transition Award and Clinician Scientist Award by the NMRC in 2015 and 2018, respectively. His research examines the mechanisms mediating myocardial hypertrophy and fibrosis in patients with hypertensive heart disease, using non-invasive imaging techniques and biochemical markers. In recognition of his research, Dr Chin has received several national and international awards, including the American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award (2015), British Heart Valve Society Young Investigator Award (2015), American Heart Association Young Investigator Award (2018) and the Singhealth Publish Award (2015 and 2016).
