Associate Professor at University System of Maryland
Geoff Milsom is currently a Supply Chain Fellow in the Center for Supply Chain Management, supporting
initiatives and projects which connect industry capabilities with the Smith School and its students. He is
also actively engaged in the Maryland Global Consulting Program, leading student teams focused on
operationally-intensive businesses. Lastly, he holds the position of Adjunct Professor, teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses on Supply Chain Management, Global Trade, and Transportation.
Outside of the University of Maryland, he has spent most of his career primarily focused on strategy,
sourcing, system selections, implementations, and modeling & analytics for North American shippers
and logistics service providers. Geoff has successfully worked with many types of companies including
Care/of, Intuitive Surgical, CVS Health, Belk, Nestle, Kraft, Kellogg’s, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Lasership,
Lutron, Trinity Industries, Gavilon, Sephora ArcBest, Koch Industries, Ranger Logistics, Covenant
Transport, and CJ Logistics.
Prior to that, Geoff was a two-time transportation management system (TMS) super-user for two
logistics service providers, an account manager for a small parcel and LTL 3PL, as well as an operations
manager for a same-day online food delivery business.
Geoff earned his bachelor of arts from George Washington University, and his master’s in business
administration from the University of Maryland, with a focus in supply chain management. Geoff is also
a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and a regular contributor to publications such as Transport
Topics, Supply Chain Digest, Logistics Management, and Inbound Logistics.
