About me

Dr. Muntasir Al-Hamad, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), is a distinguished academic and consultant specializing in comparative Semitic linguistics, Arabic language pedagogy, and non-verbal communication. With a PhD and MA in Comparative Semitic Languages and a BA in Arabic Language and Literature, his expertise extends to linguistic theory, syntax, grammar, and the cultural history of the region and its faiths. His notable publication Signs and Gestures has been translated into several languages, showcasing his specialization in non-verbal communication.

Dr. Al-Hamad has held prominent roles in academia, including Lecturer of Arabic and Oriental Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University, Director of the Amstone Project on Abrahamic Religions at the University of Manchester, and Associate Professor at Qatar University’s Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Center. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Qatar, and many other institutions.

As an educator and innovator, he leads Qatar University’s team in developing MOOC courses on the edX platform, promoting accessible and modern Arabic language learning. Dr. Al-Hamad provides training and consultancy services to universities, schools, and publishers worldwide, focusing on teaching Arabic as a second or foreign language. His extensive publications address linguistic transfer, heritage learners, Arabic orthography, and diglossia, with a particular emphasis on integrating gamified learning and cultural dynamics into pedagogy.

A pioneer in his field, Dr. Al-Hamad’s contributions include co-founding the 1001 Inventions Exhibition and serving on advisory boards for institutions like Yarmouk University and Al Jazeera Media. His work embodies a commitment to research-driven, inclusive Arabic education and cross-cultural collaboration.
