About me

Dr. Masters, MD, is the Marc and Laura Andreessen Medical Director for Disaster Relief at Stanford University. Before this, she was Emergency Medicine faculty at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and the EMS Medical Director for the city of Newark. Dr. Masters earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, completed a residency at the University of Wisconsin, and undertook a fellowship with the FDNY Hofstra Northwell Emergency Medical Services program. As the medical director for the Office of Emergency Management — a shared service between Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital — Dr. Masters is part of a specialized team focused on maintaining the highest quality patient care during any type of disaster. She has brought her skills and experience to numerous preparation and response efforts from major event planning to Ebola and COVID-19 pandemic response. She has worked with government agencies, academic- and community-based healthcare organizations, and collaborated with international partners dedicated to advancing the field of disaster medicine.

Dr. Masters’ research focuses on improving training for hospital disaster preparedness, the relationship between prehospital care and the emergency department, and health equity in EMS and disaster management.
