Not everything in nature is rare, but everything in nature is special
Lysanne is an Assistant Professor at the Behavioural Ecology group of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). She is passionate about animal behaviour and wildlife conservation. Her research focusses on animal social behaviour, animal personality and conservation behaviour.
Lysanne finished her PhD at the Behavioural Ecology Group of Wageningen University and NIOO-KNAW in 2016, studying the role of personality in the social networks of songbirds. Next, she conducted projects on social networks in fish at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and personality in bats at the Leibniz-Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), both in Berlin, Germany. Throughout, Lysanne has been involved in conservation behaviour projects on the effects of human disturbance on animal behaviour and the effectiveness of animal behaviour-based interventions.
As a female scientist, Lysanne also think it is important to set an example for girls all over the world. Science is not just a boy thing!
