About me

Dr. Fountoukis’ research work is focused on the application of regional 3-D Air Quality/Photochemical dispersion models. He received his PhD from the School of Chemical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007, and has been a Marie Curie Post-doctoral Fellow and a Project Scientist with the University of Patras, Greece, as well as an adjunct Assistant Professor at the Cyprus Institute. Over the last 15 years he has participated in 14 large-scale integrated projects of the EU and the USA. At Hamad Bin Khalifa's Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) Dr. Fountoukis is a Technical Team Leader for the Atmospheric modeling team where his research focuses on the application of air quality models in the greater region of the Middle East. He is also interested in Energy Meteorology research and more specifically in atmospheric dust and solar radiation forecasting and their effects on renewable energy systems.
