About me

Charles Huang is the co-founder of RedOctane and the co-creator of the Guitar Hero video game franchise. Guitar Hero, which launched in 2005, enables users to simulate the experience of being a rock star while playing a guitar-shaped controller. The game captured rave reviews and achieved a record-breaking $1 billion in North American retail sales in just 18 months. RedOctane was acquired by Activision in 2006.

Charles left Guitar Hero in 2010 and co founded Blue Goji, a fitness gamification company turning cardio equipment into a game system. He is currently the co-founder of Indigo 7, a startup focused on brands in fashion apparel and entertainment. He is a founding partner at Mentors Fund and also a Venture Partner at Sinovation Ventures. He is also Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley at the College of Letters & Science.

Charles holds a BA in Economics and Asian Studies from the University of California at Berkeley (1993) where he serves as Board Trustee for the Berkeley Foundation.
