About me

Andrew Carle has received national and international recognition for his work in the senior living industry. He currently serves as Adjunct Faculty and Lead Instructor for courses within the Senior Living Administration Concentration at Georgetown University, in Washington, DC. The Concentration offers the only graduate curricula in the nation dedicated exclusively to the rapidly growing senior living field. Prior to Georgetown, Mr. Carle served as an award winning professor and Founding Director of the Program in Senior Housing Administration at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, which established the first undergraduate curricula for the field.

Mr. Carle has more than 30 years of executive level senior housing and healthcare experience, including serving as Chief Operating Officer for a national Top-10 senior housing provider with nearly 100 communities, as a founding executive and Vice President for another Top-10 senior living provider, and as a CEO, COO, and Director of Strategic Planning & Marketing for hospitals and vertically integrated healthcare systems. Concurrent with his university work, he served as President of Carle Consulting, LLC, with clients including AARP, APPLE, Nintendo, UnitedHealthcare, and numerous senior living and aging services organizations. From 2017-19 he served as the Senior Consultant - Health Intellegence for J.D. Power and Associates, for whom he help lead development of the first national customer satisfaction and certification program for the senior living industry.

Mr. Carle has earned recognition for defining a new category of senior housing - University Based Retirement Communities (UBRC's)™ and a new sector of technology - "Nana" Technology™ (technology for older adults). As part of his work in technology, he co-developed the SmartSole™, the first GPS tracking shoe for individuals with Alzheimer's at risk of wandering. In 2012 the technology was included in an exhibition of the "100 Most Important Inventions in History” by the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

Mr. Carle is a contributor on issues of senior housing, aging, and technology for Forbes.com and his work has been featured or cited in or on The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, CBS News, CNN, PBS, NPR, and U.S. News & World Report, among others, and in more than 100 senior housing, aging services industry, and technology publications. He has published numerous articles, and presented at more than 50 national and international conferences, including providing the keynote address at the 25th Australian Congress on Aging. His book, “ Moments, Memories, and Mission: Stories from the Field of Assisted Living, ” received a Silver Award during the 15th Annual National Mature Market Media competition. He is the recipient of a “Best of the Best in Aging Services” Award from Aging News Alert , the “Leaders in Aging – Mentor Award” from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and “Senior Faculty - Master Teacher Award” from George Mason University. In 2010, Mr. Carle was recognized as one of six “People of Influence” for the senior housing industry by Senior Living Executive magazine. He is a highly sought national and international keynote speaker for the aging services industries.
