Syllabus
Module 1: Our Changing World This module provides an introduction to our changing world and the educational landscape. Technology has transformed so many aspects of our contemporary lives. How should educators adapt? We explore the need to position teachers as designers of STEM/STEAM learning environments. Module 2: The Critical Role of Design in Teaching This module explores the role of design in using technology appropriately. Learning theories are briefly described to provide background for the curricular design process. Emerging approaches to teaching and learning associated with designing curriculum are explored from a STEM/STEAM perspective.
Module 3: Integrating technology for innovating instruction This module examines technology’s role as a thinking tool in Innovating Instruction. Develop the next steps, including assessment and essential questions, in your STEM project and explore the need for equitable opportunities for STEM/STEAM learning in the classroom. Module 4: Assessing Student Learning & Embracing Change This module will continue to address the assessment aspects of project-based learning. We will also discuss the importance of becoming a connected learner by creating your own learning community.
